Football fans everywhere were thrilled to witness Alex Smith make his second Thanksgiving Day start of his career on Thursday when the Washington Football Team visited the Dallas Cowboys. Evidently, part of the Alex Smith fan club on Thursday was backup QB Dwayne Haskins who was left to cheer for his squad from the sidelines as Washington pulled off a dominant 41-16 away win.

After the game, the 23-yeard old showed some love to his QB1 on Twitter after he was seen picking up Smith after a tackle near the bench.

“Got your back 11, great game. Now let's eat. Happy thanksgiving!” Haskins tweeted

Smith continued to show signs of improvement for Washington on Thursday after throwing 149 yards and recorded one passing TD. Though he tallied one interception and three sacks, the 36-year old was still able to steer his team to the right direction and commanded the Cowboys all-evening long en route to their first away win of the season. Thursday was also Smith's third consecutive start this season.

Haskins, on the other hand, was left on the sidelines for the eight straight week after suiting up for the team's first four games this season. He also started Weeks 3 and 4 for Washington and threw a career high of 314 yards in their Week 4 loss against the Baltimore Ravens. Though you'd expect that there will be some bitterness coming from the second-year QB as he watches Smith slowly take over his signal-calling duties, it's been nothing but the opposite as Haskins seems to have Smith's back as he slowly gets his footing back in the league.
