The Steam Game Festival event returns again today. But what is Steam Game Festival, and what can gamers expect from this event?

STEAM GAME FESTIVAL RETURNS THIS FEBRUARY 3, 2021

The Steam Game Festival is a “celebration” where gamers can see a preview of upcoming video games coming to Steam. There are live streams set up by developers to show off their latest builds. Some developers even prepare demos that gamers can play. Best of all, players can chat with the developers, giving them a better insight into their development of games and learn more about the games themselves.

All of the games featured during the Steam Game Festival have never had a playable build on Steam before. This means you won't see games that are now available as an Early Access game. Instead, all of the games you'll see during the event are fresh off the grill, so to speak.

For the Steam Game Festival currently on-going on Steam, the event will run from February 3, 2011, to 10AM (PST) of February 9, 2021.

BEST GAMES TO TRY OUT, AMAZING DEMOS, AND GAMES TO WATCH

Just as the event's tagline says, you have the opportunity to “Play What's Next” during the festival. A full schedule of upcoming events can be viewed to see everything going on until the end of the event.

As for our editorial picks, we recommend checking out the Now There Be Goblins live stream tomorrow. Developed by Shocktopus Games, Now There Be Goblins sets you off as an adventurer smacking goblins in virtual reality. Tagged as a “VR smack and smash tower defence hybrid,” this game got our attention for its quirky graphics. We're also fans of the tower-defense genre, and it's intriguing that the concept can be applied to virtual reality. It's surely something to check out.

Apart from Now There Be Goblins, here are some other events (including live streams, demos, and Q&As) to look forward to during Steam Game Festival:

  1. The Riftbreaker
  2. Dream Engines: Nomad Cities
  3. Beyond Mankind: The Awakening
  4. Lunark
  5. A Long Journey to an Uncertain End
  6. Crooks Like Us
  7. Slavania
  8. Almighty: Kill Your Gods
  9. First Class Trouble
  10. Gatewalkers
