The Houston Texans put on one of the most shocking performances of the season as they took down the New England Patriots, 28-22. It was a sturdy performance at NRG Stadium from the Texans as they flexed their ability to win against the NFL's best.

However, this win doesn't only give praise to the Texans as a football team. This also raises questions regarding the Patriots' ability to play against the top teams. It becomes important to ask whether New England can actually mount a strong run to make Super Bowl LIV in February 2020.

Here are some of the things fans realized after watching the Texans steadily dismantle the Patriots.

The Texans are deadly efficient on offense

Like most teams in the NFL, the Texans have lost their fair share of games. However, it's noticeable that all of their losses, sans their terrible blowout to the Baltimore Ravens, were close affairs. These games also saw the Texans have less time with the ball compared to their opponents.

Their efficiency in the offensive end was also evident during this Week 13 clash. They scored a touchdown in all four quarters, only holding the ball for a grand total of 25 minutes. In comparison, the Patriots had the ball for 34 minutes.

The Texans are what the Patriots should have been this season: efficient with their attacks. Should the Texans manage to secure their throne in the AFC South, they will be tough opponents to face.

Deshaun Watson is incredible

Texans Nation has known this for a long time now, but this performance is nothing short of incredible for the third-year quarterback.

He's already known as one of the bright young stars of the NFL, but not a lot of people thought that he'd trump Tom Brady–his childhood hero–in this manner. He won the QB battle convincingly, throwing for 234 yards and three touchdowns. He also showcased his catching chops after completing his first career receiving touchdown to start the fourth quarter.

This season is the best Watson has ever been for the Texans, and fans can consider this as a statement game from their top pass-caller. one can only imagine what kind of damage he can do four to five years from now.

Tom Brady can definitely NOT do it all

Tom Brady and the defense are the only things keeping the Patriots relevant at this point, but both of them failed to keep them afloat.

TB12 threw for a super 326 passing yards and three touchdowns, but his interception definitely hurt their chances. Julian Edelman and James White stepped up for the receiving corps, but the rest of the wideouts and running backs failed to help the Pats get the W.

The three games the Pats have played since their bye week have all been very uncomfortable games. They cannot hope to win the Super Bowl if they keep playing like this. We can be sure that Bill Belichick is already burning the midnight oil just to figure out how to turn this team around.
