Rafael Nadal outlasted Taylor Fritz in an epic five-set match, earning a berth in the 2022 Wimbledon semifinal. After Fritz beat him in the Indian Wells final earlier this year, Nadal got his revenge on the grass courts of the All-England Club.

However, the win was anything but easy. After the match, Nadal spoke about how difficult it really was, dropping an injury revelation in the process, per Wimbledon on Twitter.

Rafael Nadal really didn't have an answer when asked how he was able to pull off the win. The Spaniard shockingly said that “for a lot of moments I was thinking maybe I will not be able to finish the match.”

Nadal cited an abdominal injury, which he said forced him to adjust the way he was serving against Fritz. The 22-time Grand Slam champion then went on to say that “the court, the energy, something else” helped him to finish off the win, to the joy of the Wimbledon spectators.

The electric crowd certainly helped, though Rafael Nadal has made a career out of staving off injury, whether it be in individual matches or in seasons. The man is as mentally strong as any player in tennis history.

He has had to deal with a rib ailment and a serious foot injury, which required his doctor accompanying him to the French Open.

Now, an abdominal injury is bothering him. It will take more than that to stop Rafael Nadal, though. Up next is a semifinal match against the erratic but talented Nick Kyrgios.

With a trip to the Wimbledon final on the line, Rafael Nadal will be ready.
