The Dallas Wings take on the Chicago Sky. Check out our WNBA odds series for our Wings Sky prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Wings Sky.

The Dallas Wings and Chicago Sky have had a miserable month of June. The Sky have lost four in a row and are out of a playoff position. They trail the Indiana Fever for the eighth and final playoff spot. It's even worse for Dallas, which has dropped eight games in a row and has the second-worst record in the league, ahead of only the two-win Washington Mystics.

These teams have problems at both ends of the floor — it's not just one thing when a team loses four or eight games in a row — but the main weaknesses of these teams are different. Chicago can't score, and more precisely, it doesn't have a lot of pure shooters. The Sky can put good defensive lineups on the floor, but those lineups don't have shooters. Chicago doesn't have many players who are hugely productive at both ends of the court. This is an imbalanced roster, and the additions of top draft picks Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso have given the Sky specific strengths at the expense of other team needs. It doesn't mean Reese and Cardoso are overrated players, only that they have specific traits which require teammates who can complement them. Currently, the Sky don't have those complementary players. Their five-player units don't have a balanced set of skills which forces opponents to make adjustments. The Sky usually have to manipulate their own lineup to minimize weaknesses against opponents with better, more well-rounded players.

Dallas has a problem defending. The Wings have given up 85 or more points in recent games against the Phoenix Mercury, Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm, and Connecticut Sun. Dallas played some really good basketball early in the season, but everything has fallen off the rails in this current eight-game skid. It has to start with defense for the Wings, who have a lot of work to do if they want to go from 11th place to the No. 8 (and final) playoff spot in the WNBA.

Why The Wings Could Cover The Spread

The Wings are not a good team, but they have to win a game at some point. Chicago is a pretty good candidate for a Wings victory. The Sky don't have the shooters who can expose the limitations of the Wings' defense. This is a matchup Dallas can work with. Also, this game is an 11 a.m. local time start in Chicago, a summer lunchtime game. It's unlikely that the atmosphere will be especially intimidating or that the Sky will have maximum intensity early in the game. This feels like a situation which is set up for the Wings to succeed, and they are getting almost five points. They have a great chance of covering.

Why The Sky Could Cover The Spread

The Sky don't have a great offense, but Dallas does not have a good defense, as we have outlined above. If you can say there are aspects of this matchup which favor the Wings, there are other components which favor the Sky. Chicago will score more than it normally does, and that will be enough to win.

Final Wings-Sky Prediction & Pick

One of the most important things to learn about sports betting is that you don't have to bet on every game. Pick your spots. Another betting word of wisdom is that you don't bet on games between bad teams unless one of the two teams is especially bad and especially vulnerable. This is not one such game. Both teams are on the same plane, more or less. Therefore, pass on this game, period.

Final Wings-Sky Prediction & Pick: Wings +4.5
