Cloud9 League of Legends has announced that for this weekend's match against Golden Guardians, Jonah “Isles” Rosario will be playing instead of Kim “Winsome” Dong-Keon in the support role.

Cloud9 LoL Head Coach Max Waldo said in a video that some of the things that led to this decision were the fact that the team “[was] struggling in scrims,” and it became difficult to “apply and implement [in-game] the solutions and strategies that we agreed on,” citing communication issues.

Max Waldo hopes that Isles will make “detailed and precise plans” with the team's mid and jungle. Max Waldo has mentioned better results in scrims, in-game planning, and reviews, and is hopeful that this change will bring a positive effect to the team.

However, he did not address the possible implications of this decision regarding communication in the bottom side, seeing as Cloud9 bot laner Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol mainly speaks Korean, which was a part of what made him and Winsome, who is also fluent in Korean, a great duo.

Cloud9 League of Legends qualified for the LCS Spring 2022 Playoffs, but promptly lost 3-0 to 100 Thieves in the Semifinals. They are now set to compete against Golden Guardians in the Losers' Bracket.
