The Washington Wizards suffered another disappointing defeat on Tuesday night against their former star in John Wall and the Houston Rockets. It was the 10th loss for the Wizards this season, finding 15th place in the subpar Eastern Conference. At this point, Bradley Beal is just wasting the prime years of his career on a Washington squad that has no intentions of being a playoff team at this point.

Beal has been the only bright spot in the lowly Wizards side that is currently being bannered by young players who have yet to gain significant experience in the league. He is currently leading the league in scoring with an average of 34.4 points per outing, with Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant trailing behind with norms of 30.4 points.

He is expected to get significant help from Russell Westbrook who came over from the John Wall trade during the offseason. However, Westbrook himself is going on a scoring slump and has not been playing in the dominant form that he has been known for over the past few years.

In addition, the 2017 NBA MVP was also marred by a quad injury which forced him to miss out on several tilts. Through nine games played, Westbrook is recording averages of 18.1 points, which is his lowest point average since the 2009-10 season. Aside from his subpar scoring this season, Westbrook still manages to contribute in other areas by producing 9.7 rebounds and 10.2 assists for the Wizards.

However, the contributions of the two backcourt players have yet to translate into wins for the entire squad. On Tuesday night, the Wizards didn't have an answer for a Rockets side that has been playing considerably better since the blockbuster James Harden trade.

Despite only having 10 players on their roster, the Rockets made up for the absences by freely sharing the ball and letting their players get their touches. In turn, John Wall vented ire on his former team with 24 points and five assists. Newcomer Victor Oladipo also notched 20 points and five rebounds while veteran Eric Gordon contributed 20 points and four assists of his own.

On the other side, the Wizards were bannered by Bradley Beal who went on another scoring spree and generated 33 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Meanwhile, Westbrook tallied 19 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. Robin Lopez was the only other player to tally in double digits (10 points) while their other teammates were held to measly outputs in the game.

Their 107-88 defeat to the Rockets certainly proved to be their most disappointing loss of the season as of late. In my opinion, the Wizards are better off turning to a complete rebuild instead of clinging to a high-caliber player like Beal, who has already shown his frustrations with the team early on.

Looking back in hindsight, the 27-year-old previously chose to stay loyal to the team despite getting significant interest from the rest of the league. He inked a lucrative five-year, $127 million contract back in the 2016-17 season. Moreover, Beal is still set to play out his two-year, $72 million contract extension for the next two years before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2023.

For Washington, they can opt to trade Beal away in order to get multiple role players in return, similar to what the Rockets did with James Harden. Doing so will not only help Beal's career but will also contribute to the benefit of the team. With Beal's departure, they can now focus on their rebuilding efforts along with the development of the younger players on their roster.

As it stands today, it seems like the Wizards have no plans of doing that and they will only move once Beal himself sends a trade request to the front office. The coming weeks will certainly be interesting for the Wizards and Bradley Beal as their respective fates will ultimately hinge on the decisions that they ought to make today.
