Washington Wizards All-Star Bradley Beal has purchased an extravagant new home in the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to a report from Variety.com.

Beal, now 27 years of age, dished out a reported $6.8 million for the seaside villa. It was the largest deal the residential area has seen since Kuwaiti heiress Samar Alghanim paid $8.5 million for her own Venice mansion last November.

Bradley Beal's new home was built in 2020 by a local firm known as Architecture West. It boasts 7,200 square feet of living space, equipped with five bedrooms and nine baths throughout three stories. Notably, the home features the first full basement in the neighborhood. Other features include a wine cellar, movie theater and state-of-the-art smart home technology.

Beyond walls and gates, a concrete pathway leads past a front yard — landscaped with perfectly symmetrical rows of drought-resistant native plantings — to a starkly white interior with living, dining, and family rooms all combined into a single open-plan space. The huge kitchen anchors the main floor living space, with its train car-sized island and gloss black cabinetry designed to capture eyes and hearts. There are multiple dining areas inside and out, plus walls of glass pocket doors that open to a lush courtyard with al fresco entertaining spaces, fountains, and a pool/spa combo with waterfall inspired by the five-star Amangiri resort in Utah, per the listing.

The Beals sold their “starter” home in McLean, Virginia for $3.5 million to a local pizza entrepreneur, according to Variety. Their current place of residence is a 12,000 sq. ft. mansion in Bethesda, Maryland.

The Wizards finished the 2019-20 regular season with a 25-47 overall record, which left the team with a No. 9 seed and out of the playoff hunt. Bradley Beal has been with Washington since 2012, when he was drafted with the No. 3 overall pick.

Though Beal has heard his name tossed about in several trade rumors, he signed a two-year, $72 million extension last year. Still, buying a home in L.A. will surely get some people speculating about a professional move to the Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers.

There's nothing imminent at this time, and the Wizards seem intent on giving the Bradley Beal-John Wall duo another go next season. But if that flops, perhaps Beal will find himself on the trade market.
