Washington Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall loves to play defense because he's one of the top defenders in the game at his position.

However, the Wizards star says you can't really be physical with guys in today's NBA because “everything's a flagrant foul.”

On the latest episode of All The Smoke with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Wall spoke about the lack of physicality there is in the NBA today:

“Nowadays in this new league, you got so many guys that the way they call things you can’t be physical, you can’t touch, everything’s a flagrant foul,” the Wizards' franchise star said.

“Now, if somebody says something to your brother or bump your brother and you try to stand up for him, you might be suspended three or four games over nothing. You’re like, ‘Man, If I was going to get suspended three or four games I might as well have thrown a punch or something.’”

Wall was set to miss the entire 2019-20 season recovering from his Achilles tear. The Wizards can't wait to see the former No. 1 overall pick back in his element next season with star shooting guard Bradley Beal by his side.

The Wizards missed the playoffs last season sans Wall and were on their way to missing it this campaign before the season was suspended due to COVID-19. Washington signed Beal to an extension before the season started and Wall is locked up for the long-haul on his supermax contract.

With that being said, the Wizards are praying their two All-Stars can stay healthy next season and lead the franchise back to the playoffs.
