So far, 2021 has been the best season of Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma's NBA career. He is averaging career-highs across the board and seems to have taken the next step that always alluded him on the Lakers. Those steps have not included his first career triple-double just yet, but on Wednesday night, Kuzma was on the verge of finally getting his first one.

Sitting at 19 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists for the game, Kuzma dished it out to an open Corey Kispert for the three-pointer that could have given Kyle his first-ever triple-double. The only issue was, Kispert saw that the team could get a better shot and decided to pass the ball to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope instead…much to the displeasure of Kuzma.

The streak of eight straight 20 point games is a bigger accomplishment for Kuzma than a triple-double is, so maybe Kyle should have just taken the shot? I'll tell you one thing–if Kuzma knew Kispert was going to pass the ball, he damn sure would have shot it himself. In the end, though, the Wizards got the 112-106 victory over the Orlando Magic for their third straight victory.

The focus now for Kuzma, Kispert, and the rest of the Wizards is to extend that three-game winning streak to four. That chance comes on Saturday when the Portland Trail Blazers come into Washington D.C. The Blazers will be without superstar point guard Damian Lillard, as he announced earlier on Wednesday that he would be undergoing abdominal surgery. Lillard's injury isn’t expected to be season-ending but he will surely be missing that one.
