Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks says it'll be “probably a good week” until Davis Bertans is back in the lineup.

Bertans is out with a quad ailment:

Davis Bertans is having a great season for the Wizards. He’s averaging 15.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 44.9 percent from the field, 43.4 percent from beyond the arc and 89.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Wizards acquired Bertans from the San Antonio Spurs this past offseason in a deal that was made for the Spurs to sign Marcus Morris, who backed out of his agreement with San Antonio and signed with the New York Knicks instead.

Bertans is making $7 million this season with the Wizards. He becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer and he could get paid handsomely. According to David Aldridge of The Athletic, Bertans could get between $15 million and $20 million per season next summer, although opinions vary on what he will get on the open market:

“He will get between $15M and $20M (per year) this summer.” said one former front office person. “Most likely for a two-year deal. Don’t see him getting a four-year deal.”

But a current GM didn’t agree. “He will not get 20M,” the GM texted. “(There’s) only six teams with space.”

The Wizards are 9-21 on the season. They likely won’t make the playoffs.
