After sitting out a number of games, Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Jeff Teague is set to return to action later tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder, per Jace Frederick of the Pioneer Press

Teague did not play in any of the Timberwolves’ past seven games due to a knee injury. The 29-year-old point guard will immediately assume his usual starting role, meaning Tyus Jones will be relegated to the bench. Jones had been serviceable during his time as Teague’s temporary replacement in the starting unit, as the former Duke Blue Devil put up 7.3 points and 4.3 assists over the last seven games. It’s Jimmy Butler, however, who have stepped up the biggest during Teague’s absence with the hot-shooting swingman producing an average of 22.9 points on 46.9 field goal percentage, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.9 assists during that same stretch in which the Timberwolves went 4-3.

The Timberwolves have won their last two games. With Jeff Teague back in the lineup, Minnesota will have a better matchup for reigning MVP and Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook, who would have been a huge matchup problem for the pint-sized Jones.

In 31 games for the Timberwolves this season, Teague has averaged 13.4 points, 7.3 assists, and 3.1 rebounds on 34.2 minutes. He is also shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from deep.

The Timberwolves have met the Thunder three times so far this season. In those matchups, Jeff Teague was able to average 15.7 points and 9.7 assists to go with 4.3 rebounds and 0.7 steals.
