The wrestling world has been privy to a shocking scandal involving longtime WWE CEO and chairman Vince McMahon. McMahon allegedly paid a $3 million hush money payment to a former employee who he was having an affair with. The former WWE wrestler allegedly had other such agreements with employees in the past, leading to an investigation of the goings-on following the bombshell report from the Wall Street Journal.

McMahon, who voluntarily stepped down on Friday morning, handed the duties over to his daughter, Stephanie. Amid the scandal, the WWE sent out a tweet revealing that McMahon would be appearing on Smackdown Friday night.

McMahon will be making a live appearance at Smackdown after stepping down as the CEO of the WWE. It's certainly a curious move to push McMahon further into the public eye amid the scandal, though the WWE did say in the press release that the wrestling icon will remain in charge of “creative content” at the company.

McMahon is reportedly going to speak in character at Smackdown, per CNBC's Alex Sherman, which should certainly make for an interesting night. He has reportedly torn up the script written for him.

The 76-year-old McMahon has been the chairman since buying the company from his father back in 1982. Its growth has been exponential since that point.

Now, the wrestling world will wait with bated breath for the appearance of McMahon on WWE Smackdown on Friday night.
