Newly-acquired Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine is currently recovering from an ACL injury he suffered back in February. Five months after he underwent surgery, LaVine is ahead of schedule in his recovery and is looking forward to playing for his new team.

The 22-year-old UCLA product recently told Marc J. Spears of ESPN that he is progressing well in the rehabilitation of his knee, and he vows to be ready for the start of Bulls training camp.

LaVine spent his first three seasons in the NBA in Minnesota before being included in the draft night deal that sent Jimmy Butler to the Timberwolves in exchange for him, Kris Dunn, and the rights to seventh overall pick Lauri Markkanen. Last year, he appeared in 47 games for his former team, averaging a career high 18.9 points and 3.4 rebounds to go along with 3.0 assists per game.

Now with the Bulls, the former slam dunk champion will have the opportunity to take on a bigger role for the team. It's also possible that he'll become their first option on offense, and he could learn a lot from veteran guard Dwyane Wade as well. Should he completely recover from his injury and show no signs of it lingering, he could turn out to be the next franchise player of the team and take his career to greater heights.
