Amid all the hype and fame, Zion Williamson is an overall humble and down-to-earth kid. He's very grateful to his upbringing, as his mother Sharonda Simpson and his stepfather Lee Anderson have been key figures in developing his God-given talents.

But who is his real father? Here's everything you need to know about Zion's biological dad Lateef Williamson.

The New Orleans Pelicans rookie is just an incredible physical specimen. He's 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds, which puts him heavier than basically every athlete in the NBA except for Boban Marjanovic. For what it's worth though, he can glide through the air like he was a hundred pounds lighter.

Zion definitely has his genetic makeup to thank for that. His mother, Sharonda, was a track star at Livingston College in Salisbury, North Carolina. That's where she and Lateef first met.

As ESPN reported, Zion Williamson probably has his father to credit for most of his size and athleticism.

“..Lateef Williamson, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive end who'd played for NC State briefly before academics cost him his scholarship. He eventually transferred to Livingstone College.

Following his commitment to NC State in the early 1990s, Lateef was described by one publication as “a massive defensive lineman who is said to be one of the most imposing physical specimens to come to NC State in recent years.”

“He was a heck of an athlete for his size,” said Mike O'Cain, the former NC State coach who recruited Lateef. “He could've been a good defensive lineman. He obviously had tremendous athletic abilities.”

While his father Lateef contributed to his physical attributes, his mother Sharonda and stepfather Lee made sure he didn't waste them.

Lateef may have been the reason Zion looks like a bulky linebacker, but Anderson was actually a basketball player in his youth. He was part of the Clemson basketball program and actually gently lobbied for Zion to attend his alma mater. Though he only played in 16 total games for the Tigers, he at least knew how to nudge him towards the right sport for the sake of all of us NBA fans.

Zion isn't particularly close to his biological father, but he apparently still holds a place for him in his life. For Father's Day in 2017, he greeted both his stepdad Lee and Lateef in an Instagram post.

According to Lateef's Facebook profile, he currently lives in Darlington, South Carolina.

Although Lateef and Sharonda ended up filing for divorce when Zion was just a toddler, he still gets at least some credit for giving his son the electrifying genes that has him filling up stadiums and raising the hopes of every Pelicans fan.
