Since taking over in the 76ers' front office, Daryl Morey has done an incredible job finding good pieces to complement the team's stars. Signing Georges Niang in the offseason was a small move in the margins but has proven to be a solid pickup for the Sixers. The sharpshooting forward provides a nice lift off the bench and at a team-friendly price.

When Niang got to Philly, he cited playing alongside Joel Embiid as a key factor in his decision. Given his ability to knock down shots at a good clip, he felt he is a good fit alongside the All-Star center. Now, Niang has the opportunity to share the floor with another elite-level talent.

With all the attention Embiid and James Harden garner, the Sixers need capable shooting around them to perform at their best. In their win over the Cavaliers Friday night, Niang played a crucial role off the bench. He finished the game with 17 points on stellar 5-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc.

Harden is one of the best in the league when it comes to pick-and-roll play. Doc Rivers has used this to his advantage and used many different pairings with the former MVP to create good scoring looks. Niang was stellar with Harden as a screener Friday, and it led to multiple clean looks from deep.

Following the win, Rivers gave his thoughts on the pairing of Harden and Niang in this recent stretch.

“It's really good, good stuff. Georges [Niang] separates, and that's what we're trying to get our other guys to do. A lot of our guys set picks and just turn. Georges sets picks and runs away. He knows exactly what he is doing. The good thing is James [Harden] is giving it to him,” said the Sixers coach.

Later on, Niang also gave his thoughts on his chemistry with his new All-Star teammate. Similar to playing with Embiid, he feels opportunities are created for him simply off the gravity draw to a high-caliber player like Harden.

“He does a great job of making everybody look at him, and then they forget about me, and it's been working. We should do that a lot. He does what he does, and like I said before, he's a basketball savant. He just finds crafty ways to get other guys the ball to score, and I've been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of it,” Niang said postgame.

Harden making life easier for those around him has been a common storyline since he arrived in Philadelphia. Whether it be Niang, Tyrese Maxey, or Matisse Thybulle, he continues to elevate the Sixers' supporting cast with his playmaking ability.

Making other guys better is what makes Harden such an elite talent in today's game. Simplifying things for others will be essential moving forward as the Sixers are going to need production from everywhere if they want to contend come playoffs. Early on in the James Harden era, things are looking extremely promising and everyone is benefiting from his arrival.
