The New England Patriots tend to zig while the rest of the league zags. Many believe the front office did a horrific job in the NFL Draft, but none of that truly matters. With Bill Belichick leading the way, you can never really count this team out. Even so, this franchise could use a ton of help from their acquired prospects. We take a look at one undrafted free agent who will make the Patriots' 2022 roster.

This team has a knack for finding gems late in the draft. Additionally, the front office has done a fantastic job finding legitimate contributors from undrafted players. If any franchise can find a legitimate gem, it's the Patriots. With that in mind, it wouldn't be too shocking if one or more prospects make the final roster.

New England allowed several key players to leave the roster this offseason. For that reason, there are plenty of opportunities for an undrafted free agent to make some noise. The Patriots have been solid in finding talent in the cornerback room and with JC Jackson with the Los Angeles Chargers now, perhaps a prospect can shake things up in the secondary.

With that said, here is our one undrafted free agent to make the Patriots 2022 roster.

Patriots Undrafted Free Agent To Make 2022 Roster

Devin Hafford

The Patriots have done a great job developing young cornerbacks through recent years, which bodes well for Devin Hafford. He joins a New England roster with plenty of opportunities in the secondary. It'll be interesting to see how training camp plays out, but Hafford is in a favorable situation to possibly make the final roster.

After spending six years at Tarleton State, Hafford proved to be a consistent cornerback at a small school. He forced eight turnovers during the 2021 season alone and even had a touchdown as well. Devin Hafford has plenty of experience and could turn heads throughout the summer with the Patriots. if he can show off his prowess in pass coverage, the young ballhawk could be playing a minimal role to start his career.

Realistically, Devin Hafford would mainly play on special teams if he makes the roster. However, he has the potential to play a larger role in New England if he can develop his game. The Patriots have a need for cornerbacks right now especially after allowing JC Jackson to walk in free agency.

With Malcolm Butler, Jalen Mills, and Jonathan Jones leading the way in the cornerback room, the Patriots could certainly use a boost. Devin Hafford will have his work cut out for him though, as he'll be in direct competition with Marcus Jones, Jack Jones, and several others for a spot on the roster.

Even so, Hafford has a fighting chance to make the team. The front office has found gems in the secondary before so it's not crazy to think Devin Hafford can earn a role in New England. If he performs well through training camp, he'll have a legitimate shot at playing for the Patriots in the 2022 season. Whether he's on special teams or rotating in with the cornerback group, this kid could be a surprise contributor to this franchise.
