The Memphis Grizzlies went to battle in Game 4 of their series against the Golden State Warriors without their main man in Ja Morant who suffered a knee injury in their previous game. Their opponents, on the other hand, were also a man down after head coach Steve Kerr tested positive for COVID-19 prior to tipoff.

Unfortunately, the Grizzlies failed to capitalize on Kerr's absence plus the Warriors' slow start and horrid shooting from the field. On top of that, they also allowed Golden State to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter as Memphis absorbed a tough 101-98 loss for a 3-1 series disadvantage.

With their backs against the wall, Taylor Jenkins and his squad have no other choice but to play with their best effort with or without Morant on the floor come Game 5. But before that, let's take a look at two Grizzlies players who failed to deliver in their Game 4 loss to the Warriors.

2 Grizzlies most to blame for blowing Game 4 vs Warriors

2. Jaren Jackson Jr.

Jaren Jackson Jr. may have scored 21 points in Game 4 but he also put up 21 attempts from the field just to reach that tally. Aside from his poor shooting,  his rebounding efforts have also been missing as of late after grabbing just three rebounds in Game 3.

With his lackluster inside presence, Taylor Jenkins decided to start Steven Adams at center for Game 4. The veteran big man hauled in 10 points and 15 rebounds for the Grizzlies. Meanwhile, Jackson ended up with only five boards.

Going up against a Warriors squad that likes to play small-ball, it is only necessary for Jackson to maximize his size and versatility to contribute well to the Grizzlies. His struggles on the offensive end and in the rebounding department surely played a part in preventing Memphis from securing a crucial Game 4 victory which was more than winnable for them.

The Grizzlies would need Jaren Jackson Jr. to come out of his slump and have better production on the floor if they want to stay in this series and grab a much-needed win in Game 5.

1. Dillon Brooks

Dillon Brooks has always played a huge part in the team's offense. However, at the same time, his level of consistency, especially on offense, has also been questionable ever since. The momentum of Brooks was dampened even more after he was suspended for Game 3 due to a flagrant 2 foul that caused an injury to Gary Payton II back in Game 2.

After sitting out a one-game suspension, the Oregon product returned to the floor in Game 4 but came out with a less than ideal performance for the Grizzlies. Brooks struggled by missing a crucial three-point attempt with 53 seconds left in the game which could've increased his team's chances of winning the game. He ended up with 12 points on a poor 5-of-19 shooting from the field to go with five rebounds and eight assists.

Brooks was also shaky in his return after committing five personal fouls and four turnovers for the Grizzlies. All in all, his shot selection as well as the decisions that he made in Game 4 greatly hindered the team from protecting their lead and escaping with the victory.

Amid the absence of Ja Morant, guys like Dillon Brooks should play at a higher level and help shoulder the offensive load for the team while their top option on offense remains on the sidelines. If Memphis gets to see a better performance from him in Game 5 then they will have a better chance of sticking around and extending this series to as many games as possible.
