The Chicago Bears Week 12 matchup against the Detroit Lions was one to forget. Both franchises struggled throughout, but in the end, Chicago clinched the victory. After an ugly win, we take a look at this Bears-Lions game with some of our Bears Week 12 takeaways kept in mind.

It was an ugly display of football as both the Bears and Lions struggled to do much on the field. It's safe to assume Chicago runs away with this game if Justin Fields was healthy, but instead, we were given a boring snooze-fest to kick off Thanksgiving morning.

Even so, there are a few valuable takeaways from this game. Rumors have been swirling around Matt Nagy's job security in Chicago. He struggled to defeat a terrible Detroit team, which doesn't bode well for his tenure with the Bears. Meanwhile, David Montgomery struggled again and Chicago needs to figure things out. Lastly, Darnell Mooney looks like the next big star at wide receiver.

With that said, here are the Bears Week 12 takeaways from their game against the Lions.

Bears Week 12 Takeaways

3. Chicago desperately needs to fire Matt Nagy

Nothing has been said for sure, but Matt Nagy is on the hot seat. Regardless, it's painfully clear the clock is ticking for the Bears' current head coach. The offense struggles to move the ball down the field and the defense has been horrendous.

Chicago is likely to allow Nagy to finish the season as the leader of this team. However, the Bears should be searching for their new coach right now. There will be some solid candidates in the offseason. Chicago should be a desirable destination, as Justin Fields is an exciting young prospect any coach would want to work with.

2. Bears need to find a way to get David Montgomery going

It was a tough day for the Bears' rushing attack as the Lions locked it down on Thursday. David Montgomery totaled just 46 yards off of 17 carries. That's a pathetic display of production especially considering it was against Detroit. The rushing attack was putrid and it must be addressed moving forward.

Montgomery is a talented running back who has struggled recently. It doesn't help the offensive line has played poorly this year. However, Montgomery doesn't seem like himself since coming back from injury. We'll see if he bounces back in the Bears' next game against the Arizona Cardinals.

1. Darnell Mooney is the real deal

Bears fans should be excited about the future of this franchise. Not only is Justin Fields an exciting prospect, but Darnell Mooney has flashed his talent recently. He looks like the best receiver on the team and still has plenty of room to grow. Mooney finished the day with five receptions for 123 yards. An impressive performance even without recording a touchdown.

You can expect to see Darnell Mooney stay involved in the Bears' passing attack. With Allen Robinson essentially invisible, Mooney is going to remain as the top pass option for Chicago. Look for him to make some big plays for the rest of the season and become Fields' favorite target for years to come.
