The Orlando Magic had a rough season in 2021-2022, finishing at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 22-60 record. It was not expected to be a banner year, and the season met expectations. On Tuesday night though, Magic fans got something they can be excited about. The Orlando Magic won the NBA Draft Lottery!

They will have the first overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. This class coming in has some great players and Orlando has their pick of the litter, so to speak. So, let's take a look at the best prospects that Magic general manager John Hammond will be looking at.

3 Best Options For Magic After Getting 1st Overall Pick in 2022 NBA Draft Lottery

1. Jabari Smith Jr. – PF Auburn

Jabari Smith Jr. played just one season in college, but dominated the SEC at Auburn. He averaged 16.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, a steal, and a block per game. He was also deadly from beyond the arc, as he knocked down over 42 percent of his shots from deep. Orlando could certainly use a forward with his versatility and scoring ability.

The Magic have been waiting years for power forward Jonathan Isaac to be able to play. Orlando drafted him with the number six overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He showed a ton of promise early on both ends of the court, but has been hit with one injury after another. The injuries have kept him from playing for the last two years whatsoever.

Smith Jr. could slide right into a starting spot at power forward. He would immediately add athleticism and a scoring pucn from someone that plays above the rim.

That would alleviate pressure on Isaac and allow his ACL to heal properly.

2. Chet Holmgren – C Gonzaga

The big man out of Gonzaga was the consensus first overall pick as college basketball's season was coming to a close. He certainly could be the choice, as he offers a very rare combination of skills for a man his size. Holmgren is seven feet tall, can handle the ball off the dribble, can shoot both inside and outside the arc, and can finish with both hands at the rim.

The Magic obviously could use a player with that level of versatility offensively. Orlando were second to last in scoring this season, posting only 104.2 points per game. Only the Oklahoma City Thunder were worse. Understandably, a big man that can dominate the paint offensively could be very useful.

The only big question surrounding Gonzaga's big man is his weight and strength. He is only 195 pounds, despite being listed at seven feet.

3. Paolo Banchero – PF Duke

There is still the chance that the Magic decide to go with the standout product from Duke. Paolo Banchero led Duke all the way to the Final Four. Banchero was nominated for the ACC Player of the Year Award, but ultimately saw it go to Wake Forest guard Alondes Williams.

Nevertheless, Banchero has looked as pro-ready as anyone in this draft class. He has soft hands and is an excellent finisher around the rim. At 6'10”, he has length and the ability to shoot. However, he did struggle at times shooting from the outside, hitting only 33.8 percent of his shots from long range.

Regardless of who the Magic select with the first overall pick in the NBA Draft, they are sure to be an improved team. Smith Jr., Holmgren and Banchero each offer tremendous upside and can make an immediate impact.
