Not only did the Green Bay Packers finish the season with a massive letdown, but they are also in for one of the most difficult offseasons in recent NFL history.

There are several reports that key players such as Davante Adams, Aaron Rodgers, Za'Darius Smith, and a few others will not be returning to the squad next season. When you add in the fact that the Packers are in a terrible financial position, it's going to be one of the worst offseasons in NFL history.

Green Bay is in a difficult situation, but if they decide to cut a few players and do some crazy things, they might be able to re-sign some of their best players. It will take a lot of time and effort, and it may not be their best idea, but it is a possibility.

Green Bay will almost certainly debut Jordan Love as their starting quarterback next season since Aaron Rodgers appears to be on the verge of leaving the team or retiring. The Packers must either maintain some of their best receivers or go out and grab guys on better deals who they believe can make an immediate impact and aid this young quarterback if they are to have any success with Jordan Love as their quarterback.

The Packers' best chance of having a successful season next year is whether they can maintain any of their receivers or go out and sign new ones. They'll have little to no success if they run the offense with a young quarterback who isn't surrounded by elite weapons.

Let's take a look at the three biggest free agents that the Packers need to try to re-sign this offseason in order for them to keep being one of the better teams in football.

Packers Free Agents

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Marquise Valdes-Scantling is an intriguing name since he is one of the best receivers in football when he is on the field. The problem with him is that he wasn't able to play much this season due to injuries, but that might possibly benefit the Packers in the future. If he had the season that everyone expected and was healthy, he would have earned a big deal from a lot of NFL teams. The Packers may perhaps bring him back on a cheaper deal now that he's been hurt and there are still some doubts about his ability to stay healthy. Although it's improbable given he's still one of the best wide receivers in the league, they could be able to negotiate a better deal, which is something they'll have to do if they want to have any success with Jordan Love.

Despite only appearing in 11 games this season, he managed to rack up 26 catches for 430 yards. He was one of the Packers' most potent offensive weapons, and he's someone they'll want to keep in the future.

Allen Lazard

Allen Lazard is another legitimate offensive weapon on this Packers team, but he is unlikely to return beyond free agency. He had 40 catches for 513 yards and eight touchdowns on the season.

He won't be easy to keep because Lazard is expected to get several offers for huge contracts in the offseason. If the Packers can find a way to keep him, it may be in their best interests, but it appears improbable at the moment that they will pay him what he deserves simply because he will be more costly and there may be cheaper choices available.

Davante Adams

Davante Adams will be perhaps the biggest name available during free agency, and it's improbable that he'll re-sign with the Packers if they have the money, and it's also unlikely that the Packers will be able to find the amount of money he'll demand during free agency.

He's one of the top wide receivers in the league, and there's no reason for him to take a salary cut to play for the Packers, especially if Aaron Rodgers isn't going to be the quarterback next season. It's already doubtful that he'll re-sign with this team, but it's even more unlikely now that Aaron Rodgers isn't expected to be there. He and Aaron Rodgers are one of the best quarterback-wide out duos in the NFL, and he could follow Rodgers wherever he goes.

This is going to be an interesting off-season for Green Bay, and one that could change the dominant franchise we have seen over the past decade. They will have some tough moves to make but have to remember they are likely going to have a young quarterback who needs all the help he can get.
