The Indianapolis Colts have found their quarterback in Matt Ryan. Ryan previously spent his entire career with the Atlanta Falcons, but now, he will get a new opportunity with the Colts.

The team has been in search of a signal-caller this offseason after trading Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders. The Colts only had to trade a third round pick for Ryan, who allows them to be a contender in the AFC.

While the 26-year-old Ryan is no longer in his prime, his veteran experience could get the Colts back to the NFL Playoffs. Last season, he threw for 3,968 yards along with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also had a solid completion percentage of 67%. Although these numbers don't jump off the page, they are impressive, considering the lack of wide receiver depth on the Falcons.

The Colts will give Ryan a superstar running back in Jonathan Taylor. They also have a good young receiver in Michael Pittman Jr. However, outside of those two pieces, the squad does not have established weapons. General manager Chris Ballard will need to look into adding more guys to give Ryan the best chance to succeed.

3 bold predictions for Matt Ryan with Colts in 2022 NFL season after Falcons trade

3. Colts offense finish top 10 in the NFL

While the final roster is unknown, the Colts offense should be a great unit with Ryan at quarterback. Acquiring another receiver or two would be the icing on the cake for the team.

But even without adding any more weapons, the offense can rely on Taylor. He is one of the best running backs in the league and is coming off of a career year. He rushed for 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also contributed in the passing game with 40 receptions for 360 yards and two touchdowns.

The play-action game will be open up as defenses will focus on containing Taylor. This will allow Ryan to complete passes downfield and create an explosive offense.

2. Ryan throws for 30 touchdowns

Although Ryan hasn't eclipsed 30 touchdowns in a season since 2018, this new situation should help him. Pittman is primed to have another great season after a breakout campaign.

The 24-year-old finished last season with 88 receptions for 1,082 yards and six touchdowns. With a young receiver growing, Ryan should form a dynamic connection with him. Expect Pittman to be a top target. His size and ability to get open make him an excellent weapon for quarterbacks to find.

1. Ryan leads the Colts to the NFL Playoffs

Despite having a talented roster, the Colts missed out on the postseason in their last campaign. They lost their Week 17 game to the Jacksonville Jaguars, which was a must-win game to make it to the NFL Playoffs.

Wentz struggled in that game, which led to an early exit for the Colts. Adding a veteran quarterback in Ryan, with his vast experience, will help them get back to the postseason. With an elite defense behind him and a few stars on offense, Ryan should put the Colts back in contention. He is bound to have a resurgent season with his new team.

While trading for Ryan didn't give the Colts a franchise quarterback for the future, it will allow them to be in the race in the highly competitive AFC.
