The Arizona Cardinals enter the 2022 NFL offseason amid a lot of uncertainty. The team fell off a cliff as the season progressed in 2021. They began 7-0 and were considered Super Bowl contenders. The Cardinals lost six of their final 10 games and were blown out by the eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in the wild card round.

Things got much worse after the season ended, as a rift appears to be growing between the Cardinals the quarterback Kyler Murray. Many of the elite skill position players are unrestricted free agents. All of this leaves some serious questions and decisions for the franchise to answer this offseason.

Here are the three moves the Cardinals must make during the 2022 NFL offseason.

3 Moves the Cardinals Must Make This Offseason

3. Give Contract Extension to Kyler Murray

The rising tensions between quarterback Kyler Murray and the Cardinals franchise is certainly not ideal. Murray reportedly deleted all of his ties to the franchise on social media. The franchise then clapped back, creating a strange vibe between the sides. But that needs to be put to rest.

Murray will be entering the final year of his rookie contract. The Cardinals also have the option of exercising a fifth-year option in 2023. But the team is able to provide a contract extension this offseason. Likely, that is what the whole social media fuss is all about. Murray was trying to send a message in order to get paid.

The Cardinals may feel reluctant to give a massive, nine-figure deal to Murray. He was banged up once again and missed almost a month after all. But what the franchise needs to remember is that it is their responsibility to keep him healthy and upright.

Murray was the MVP front runner until his injury midway through the season last year.

Then when he came back, he played without arguably the best wide receiver in football in DeAndre Hopkins for the rest of the year. Franchise quarterbacks do not grow on trees. In today's NFL, you either have one or you don't. If you don't, you have zero chance of winning a Super Bowl.

2. Shore up the Offensive Line

The offensive line took strides forward in 2021. They went from one of the worst units in the league in 2020, to the middle of the pack in 2021. But there is still room to improve.

According to Pro Football Focus, Arizona's offensive line graded out 15th overall. But the Cardinals right guard, Josh Jones, was one of the lowest graded at his position. Arizona struggled to run the ball consistently. James Connor did a great job in the red zone scoring touchdowns, but between the 20's it was tough sledding at times.

One way to help Murray stay upright is improve the running game. Part of that will be keeping Chase Edmonds and Connor healthy. The other part is make improvements up front where needed.

1. Re-Sign or Tag Chandler Jones

Arizona's defense was hit or miss all year. At times, they looked like one of the best units in football. Other times, they could not get off the field. That inconsistency is unbecoming of a championship caliber team.

After an injury-plagued 2020, Jones was back to being one of the best pass rushers in the entire NFL. He finished the season with 10.5 sacks, tied for 11th in the league. Outside of 2020, Jones has between 10.5 and 19 sacks every year since 2015. He is the model of consistency. In today's game, it is incredibly important to have a pass rush.

Two years in a row, the difference in the Super Bowl has been defensive lines putting pressure on the opposing quarterback. If Arizona has aspirations of winning a championship, an elite pass rusher is a must. Jones is an unrestricted free agent. If the franchise is reluctant to give him a new deal, they might just have to franchise tag him.
