The 2021 season didn't exactly go as the Jacksonville Jaguars thought it would. A disastrous few months under former head coach Urban Meyer set the tone for the year, as the Jags ended with a 3-14 record, the worst mark in the NFL.

The silver lining is that the Jaguars have every single possible resource to turn their team around, owning the third-most cap space in the league along with the first overall pick in the draft. Jacksonville's offseason should be one of the most interesting and action-packed in the NFL.

Here are three moves the Jaguars must make during a crucial offseason.

3 moves the Jaguars must make this offseason

3. Retain Andrew Norwell and Cam Robinson

The Jacksonville offensive line was downright bad at times last season, but that wasn't the fault of Norwell and Robinson. They were easily the two best linemen on the team last year, and the front office should make an effort to keep them on the roster.

Norwell and Robinson combined to allow four sacks over nearly 2,000 snaps. Good offensive linemen are increasingly hard to come by, and letting two of them hit the open market is seldom a good idea, especially with a young franchise quarterback like Trevor Lawrence at reins of the offense. Keeping both of these guys won't be cheap, but the Jaguars should pay up to keep the better parts of their line intact.

2. Draft an offensive lineman with the No. 1 pick

Even if Jacksonville manages to re-sign Norwell and Robinson, it's still clear the team should select an offensive lineman with the first overall pick. Starting right guard AJ Cann will likely walk in free agency, and right tackle Jawaan Taylor has been a liability at times. Taking an offensive lineman early would allow the Jaguars to reshuffle the line as they see fit and turn a strength into a weakness.

There are several linemen who are worth selecting at number one overall. Alabama left tackle Evan Neal and NC State's Ikem Ekwonu could both be justifiably selected that high. Either would give Jacksonville a franchise left tackle to pair with Lawrence for the foreseeable future.

1. Sign wide receiver Chris Godwin

At first glance, wide receiver looks like one of the better positions on Jacksonville's roster. However, the unit isn't nearly as strong as it looks. DJ Chark has had one good NFL season in his career and just had his 2021 season ended by injury. Marvin Jones Jr. is a solid player, but not a game-changing presence at this stage of his career. Laviska Shenault Jr. is another guy hovering around the average mark.

Overall, this group doesn't give defenses all that much to worry about. Acquiring Godwin would change that.

The Penn State product is a legitimate number one receiver who could make Lawrence's life much easier. Godwin had 1,1000 receiving yards and five touchdowns last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers despite missing three contests. His ability to play anywhere on the field should free up the rest of Jacksonville's receivers to play in their best positions. Godwin's skill set as a possession receiver also fits well with the rest of the Jags' playmakers.

Landing Godwin would be an absolute slam dunk for Jacksonville.
