The NBA trade deadline is fast approaching, which will bring forth a few months of chaos. Trades can go from franchise-altering moves to adding a role player to get a team over the hump in the NBA Playoffs. For the Sacramento Kings, they will be looking to add building blocks for the future.

It's no secret that the Kings have been atrocious for the past decade-plus, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2006. They are, however, building a core and have tons of promising young talent on the roster. Their backcourt of De'Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton are a great pair and will be a lethal duo for the future. The Kings now need to surround them with players that would fit well and grow alongside them.

Here are three players the Kings must pursue in the 2022 NBA trade deadline.

3. Myles Turner

While the Kings have some great pieces, they are in need of a reliable big man. With the Indiana Pacers entering a rebuild, a move for Turner could make a ton of sense. Turner is a great shot blocker and can stretch the floor with his three-point shooting. He is clearly unhappy with his role with the Pacers as he said, “It's clear that I'm not valued as anything more than a glorified role player here, and I want something more, more opportunity” (via The Athletic).

On the season, Turner is averaging 12.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He is also shooting 39.7 percent from behind the arc and making a league-leading 2.8 blocks per game. This makes Turner one of the premier stretch big men in the league, as well as a great rim protector. Adding a player of Turner's caliber would help the Kings improve drastically and give them their center for the future.

2. Domantas Sabonis

Another Pacers player that the Kings should target is Sabonis. The two-time All-Star is one of the players that is being shopped as the Pacers head into a rebuild. Sabonis would create an elite trio with Fox and Haliburton, providing an elite big man presence. This season, he is averaging 18.0 points and 12.o rebounds per game. He can score at all three levels and would fit well in the Kings' offense.

The Pacers will likely keep one of either Sabonis or Turner, so River City will need to decide which player would be a better fit. The Kings also need to determine how much they want to give up, as a Sabonis deal would require them to give up more assets.

1. Ben Simmons

The ideal target for the Kings is Simmons. He is one of the best defensive players in the league and has been in trade rumors since the end of last season. He has had turmoil with the Philadelphia 76ers since an abysmal performance in the last NBA Playoffs. No deal has been made thus far as the Sxiers' asking price has been very high for Simmons. He is still holding out from the team this year, and a deal is primed to be done at some point.

Simmons is a dynamic playmaker and defender, but his inability to shoot has caused problems for him at point guard. With a surplus at the guard position with the Kings, Simmons would likely transition to a small forward or power forward role. This could revitalize his career and help him play more off the ball. The All-Star guard could still operate the offense at times, but it would work better in the half-court offense.

If the Kings can pull off a Simmons deal, his defensive versatility would definitely be a welcome addition.

The Kings have many options ahead as the NBA trade deadline approaches, and pulling off a big trade would give them direction and help them get back to the NBA Playoffs.
