It's been an interesting offseason for the Dallas Cowboys as the front office made some changes to the roster. The team will have a more balanced approach, which sets the franchise up nicely for the next couple of years. However, this organization is attempting to get over the hump and make a deep run in the playoffs. To do that, they'll need some of their guys to step up in a big way. With that in mind, we look at three potential breakout players for the Cowboys in the 2022 season.

The defense is shaping up nicely and they should be one of the best units in the league this year. For that reason, the three potential breakout players on this list are all on the offensive side of the ball. After trading away Amari Cooper, the Cowboys will need some players to improve their game if they hope to make a deep playoff run.

Dallas had a high-powered offense last season and that should continue into 2022. There are some question marks regarding Ezekiel Elliott and the receiving core, but luckily for the Cowboys, they have the depth and star power to make up for it. This franchise is in line to repeat as NFC East champions as long as everybody plays their part well.

With that said, here are three potential breakout players for the Cowboys' 2022 season.

Cowboys Breakout Players For The 2022 NFL Season

3. Tyler Smith

Dallas received some flack from the media after selecting Tyler Smith in the first round of the NFL Draft. Regardless, the young rookie is likely the starting left guard and could be a pleasant surprise for the franchise. Considering the offensive line needed some youth, the Cowboys were smart to acquire Smith.

He does need some time to develop, but he's going to be thrown into the deep end of the pool to start his career. Regardless, he can be a nice surprise, as he proved to be a reliable blocker in college. Look for Tyler Smith to turn some heads during his rookie campaign, as he is going to play a large part in the Cowboys' offense.

2. Tony Pollard

Before diving into Tony Pollard, it's important to note that the backfield still belongs to Ezekiel Elliott. Although the superstar running back didn't look great last year, Elliott is in line to bounce back in a big way. Regardless, Pollard is going to have a role and should prove himself even more worthy as a strong second-option in the Cowboys' rushing attack.

Tony Pollard's presence elongates Ezekiel Elliott's career and Dallas should utilize both running backs throughout the season. The Cowboys are at their best when they run the ball effectively and we should see Pollard carry the rock often. Keep an eye on him, as he could be the X-Factor this offense needs to make a deep playoff run.

1. CeeDee Lamb

The Cowboys are all-in on CeeDee Lamb after trading Amari Cooper away to the Cleveland Browns. Many see him as a star receiver already, so him being on this list shouldn't come as a surprise. Lamb is set to be Dak Prescott's top passing option and should be in store for a monster season. Especially considering how often Dallas tends to throw the ball.

He can do it all and is a mismatch nightmare for most opposing defenses. Although he will garner more attention as the Cowboys' number one pass option, CeeDee Lamb is more than capable of handling himself. With the opportunity in front of him, Lamb has the potential to reach the same level as Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase.
