The Indianapolis Colts were able to come away with a massive victory against a New England Patriots team that was coming off of seven wins in a row in Week 15.

The Colts realized that if they want to make the playoffs, they needed to take care of business against a very good Patriots team. They have some more tough games coming up in the last three games of the season, but this was the right way to get the playoff push started. They have continuously shown throughout the year that if they get into the playoffs, they're not going to be a team that many other teams are going to want to face.

Their defense really stepped up on Saturday and was one of the keys to their victory and Jonathan Taylor continues to do Jonathan Taylor type of things. It looks like this Colts team could potentially win the AFC South if they can continue winning games, but it won't be easy.

Let's take a look at some takeaways from the Colts' impressive win over the Patriots in Week 15.

Colts Week 15 Takeaways

4. Must-win and the Colts delivered

The Colts knew coming into this one that if they wanted to win, they needed to play their best football that they have played all season long. That's exactly what they did on Saturday as they took care of business against a team that came into this one at 9-4. New England was on a seven-game winning streak so the Colts knew exactly what they were getting themselves into.

Indianapolis has had games throughout the season that they surely could have walked away with wins and they would be in a much better spot than they are right now. At the end of the day, they didn't take care of business against some of those teams that they should have beat and they found themselves in a difficult situation leading up to this game.

They were able to bounce back and take care of business against a very good Patriots team and now they are only one and a half games behind first-place of their division.

3. Defense carried the team to a victory

Indianapolis set the tone early and that's exactly what they needed to do against this Patriots team to walk away with a victory. They did not give up any points in the first three quarters and that led the team to a pretty easy victory. There was a point in the fourth quarter where the game did get somewhat close but the Colts defense was able to come up with stops and the offense was able to help deliver the final blow.

Not giving up any points to Bill Belichick's offense is always an impressive thing to do and that was key to Indianapolis winning this game.

2. Jonathan Taylor, MVP

What more does Jonathan Taylor have to do on the football field for him to walk away with this award? There really shouldn't be any debate anymore. He went up against a very good New England Rush defense and he had arguably one of his best games yet. He's obviously had better games throughout the season considering he's had games with four or more touchdowns. In this game, he was able to rush for 170 yards on 29 carries 29 carries with one touchdown.

He put on a master class and it helped the Colts to win the game.

1. Division is right there

The division isn't going to be easy to win because they are still a game and a half behind the first-place Tennessee Titans. The Titans do have some very tough games coming up in their next three weeks as they are taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, and a sneaky Miami Dolphins team. There is a good chance that they can lose two of these games and if they do, the Colts are right there at to win the AFC South.

They're going to have to take care of business against some tough teams in the coming weeks, but if they want to win the division, they're going to need to win these games and have some luck with the Titans losing a few.

Indianapolis has been nothing short of impressive for most of the season and their win against the Patriots was their most impressive of the year. They most certainly have the weapons to potentially win a Super Bowl and with the way that their defense can get stops, they're going to be a legit contender come playoff time. They're going to need to stay healthy and from there, anything is possible.
