Dee Ford is finally back in the field after a considerable amount of time on the injury list. And the sight brought sighs of relief from 49ers fans all over the country.

The former Kansas City pass rusher has been dealing with tendinitis for the past couple of seasons. In an effort to prolong his career, he had to miss three weeks of the preseason to undergo a platelet-rich-plasma treatment for his knee. His movement in his first training camp with San Francisco is looking as great as ever.

According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, the 49ers coaching staff are happy with the way their linebacker is moving his body:

“He looked great today,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said. “Very fresh legs, so we were messing with him over that. He looked very good.”

This is the first time Ford underwent PRP treatment to address his knee issues. While the procedure didn't remove the discomfort entirely, it showed stark improvements in his condition.

“This past time it got to a point where I was dysfunctional,” Ford said. “And that’s a bad sign. So we really had to nip that in the bud. But it feels good now.”

The former Auburn Tiger is coming off one of his most impressive seasons to date. He started 16 games for the Chiefs and forced seven intersections. He also had record numbers in sacks (13.0), solo tackles (42), TFLs (13), and QB hits (29).

His defensive prowess is something the 49ers desperately need. They are playing in a tough NFC West where they face teams like the LA Rams and Seattle Seahawks on a regular basis. His defensive efficiency will help turn some of those losses to dubs.

49ers fans will be eager to see their new pass-rusher in action, and Ford can't wait for the season to start, as well.
