With veteran wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders leaving for the New Orleans Saints in free agency this offseason, the San Fransisco 49ers have been forced to look at other options on the roster to play next to superstar tight end George Kittle and second-year stud Deebo Samuel.

For many, 2019 third-round pick Jalen Hurd has a chance to be that guy. Hurd, who excelled in his senior season at Baylor, was forced to miss all of the 2019 season due to a stress fracture in his back.

Still, Hurd impressed last preseason. Moreover, at a robust 6-foot-4 and 227 pounds, teammates have been salivating over the 24-year-old's potential. One of those teammates is none other than 49ers Pro Bowl quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who praised the young wideout for making his job at QB much easier.

“Jalen is very raw. He’s so explosive, so powerful,” Garoppolo said per Matt Barrows of The Athletic. “There’s so many little technique things, I guess you could say, he hasn’t even learned yet. But he enjoys learning it. That’s one of the main things I like about coming out here — when we get to talk about the stuff, you can see he’s eating it up, taking it all in. And then he goes out and does it. When you have a guy like that, it makes quarterbacking very easy.”

Along with Kittle, Samuel and Hurd, the 49ers also drafted Arizona State receiver Brandon Aiyuk in the first round in the most recent draft. Not to mention that they also re-signed three-year veteran Kendrick Bourne, who totaled 30 catches for 358 yards and five touchdowns last season.
