In the afterglow of AEW x NJPW's Forbidden Door, Tony Khan had a lot to say. He talked about FTR's new music, how Claudio Castagnoli ended up in the promotion, and notably chose not to talk about MJF, but sandwiched inside his post-PPV media scrum was a nugget of information that will make fans of Ring of Honor very happy indeed: ROH is coming back on July 23rd for Death Before Dishonor 2022 live from Lowell, Massachusetts.

Goodness gracious, talk about burying the lead and dropping a post-midnight news bomb.

Now, for those who don't know, Ring of Honor has been going through a rough patch over the last year. The promotion announced it would be going on hiatus in late 2021, with its final event of the old era taking place at Final Battle, and that all of the wrestlers under contract with very few exceptions would be released from their contracts and allowed to sign elsewhere.

Fast-forward to spring of 2022 and it was announced that none other than Tony Khan had purchased the name, IP, and most importantly of all, the tape library of ROH and that he would be taking over their first show back, Super Card of Honor, which was initially booked under previous ownership but was bolstered up with additional AEW talent.

Though the show was largely viewed as a success, with FTR putting on a particularly good match with The Briscoes for the ROH Tag Team Championship belts, the promotion has been oddly silent since, with its social media accounts only being used to promote when one of their belts holders makes an appearance on Dark, Dark Elevation, Dynamite, Rampage, or, on one specific occasion, Battle of the Belts.

With this new show booked, can fans expect to see ROH return to the small screen too? Well, Khan said that is still to be determined, as he's working with Warner Brothers Discovery to find a home for a weekly show but considering performers like Jonathan Gresham and Mercedes Martinez were featured on the most recent episode of Rampage, one way or another it would appear the storylines with be laid in the lead up to the show, which is less than one month away. For ROH fanboys who want to see nothing more than the likes of Dalton Castle grace the ring once more, this is very good news indeed.
