The Oklahoma City Thunder will be missing the services of shooting guard Alex Abrines for their regular season finale against the Memphis Grizzlies this Wednesday. According to a Thunder bulleting update via Alex Roig of Now That’s Thunder Basketball, Abrines has been put in the concussion protocol, meaning he is very much likely out for Wednesday’s home game versus the Grizzlies.

As noted in the report, Abrines suffered the injury during last Monday’s 115-93 road win in South Beach over the Miami Heat. Before leaving the contest, Alex Abrines mustered five points with a three-pointer and a rebound in 12 minutes of floor duty.

Even without Abrines in the Grizzlies game, the Thunder should have more than enough tools to take down a tanking Memphis squad. After all, Abrines is only being used 15.1 minutes per game this season, mostly as part of the team’s second unit. Without Abrines, Brewer and Terrance Ferguson are expected to experience a slight uptick in usage and minutes on Wednesday.

Alex Abrines, who was selected by the Thunder 32nd overall in the 2013 NBA Draft, has no definite date yet for a return, but that should come shortly after he clears the protocol.

In his first year in the NBA, the 24-year-old Spaniard will finish the regular season with averages of 4.7 points, 0.4 assists, and 1.5 rebounds in 75 games played. He also shot 38.0 percent from the three-point area.
