Arsenal has finally nabbed their man. According to The Athletic, the Gunners have reached a deal for Brighton and England defender Ben White, with medicals pending.

The last few years have been a whirlwind for White, who enjoyed loan spells at Newborough County, Peterborough United, and Leeds. He finally broke through with the first team at Brighton last term and emerged as one of the standout defenders in the Premier League. Arsenal meanwhile has been chasing his signature for a couple of months and was close to securing his signature in June. But, it now looks like it's finally getting done.

White was a part of England's squad at Euro 2020, but he didn't see the pitch throughout the tournament after replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold last minute due to injury. Arsenal desperately needs help at the back after missing out on European football altogether in 2020/21 with an eighth-place finish. White, who typically plays right-back, is versatile enough to play anywhere across the defense, depending on Arteta's choice of formation. His speed and technical abilities are also seen as a huge plus for the Gunners.

White will likely be the immediate replacement for David Luiz, who is nearing a move away from the Emirates on a free transfer. Ben White is certainly a good signing for Arsenal on their pursuit to bounce back and secure a top-six finish next term.
