Barcelona will be looking to bring in several impactful players this summer with the hope of competing for the La Liga title next season. One star specifically on their radar is Bayern Munich talisman Robert Lewandowski, who has yet to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga giants. He doesn't become a free agent until next summer, but the Pole wants a three-year extension before then. Problem is, Bayern isn't willing to give him that given his age.

Negotiations are still far from over, but it's clear Barcelona is very much still pursuing Lewandowski, with a three-year deal of their own ready for him. Via Fabrizio Romano:

Bringing in a talent like Lewa would absolutely make Barca better from the get-go, but the question is, will he really leave Germany? Bayern's entire squad and the way they play are built around feeding Lewandowski goals. He fits perfectly in their system. Sure, the Poland international is likely keen on a change of scenery, but there are no guarantees he thrives at this level elsewhere.

Bayern sporting director Oliver Kahn insists Lewandowski will stay put, but it's still very early in this entire process. The player himself is aware of the deal Barcelona is offering, as Romano noted.

To be honest, Bayern would be absolutely foolish to let Robert Lewandowski leave. The man wants stability for his future. Give it to him. On the other hand, Barcelona is just praying contract negotiations break down completely so they can pounce.

This situation is far from over.
