Barcelona has reportedly kept tabs on out-of-favor Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek with hopes of bolstering the squad's midfield.

After being a profound star at AFC Ajax, many top clubs around Europe sought out van de Beek's signature. Manchester United was able to fend off all the clubs vying for his services and brought him to Old Trafford. Contrary to the hype surrounding van de Beek, he has been lackluster, to say the least. Only starting for the Red Devils 4 times,  the Dutch midfielder still appears to be missing from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans.

With Solskjaer opting to keep van de Beek on the bench, Barcelona has been enticed by the prospect of signing van de Beek for a discounted price as reported by Raghavendra Goudar of HardTackle. After missing out on Genie Wijnaldum last summer after Paris Saint-Germain hijacked their deal with the box-to-box midfielder, Barca is still keen on bolstering their midfield.

On paper, it would make sense for the Blaugrana to go after van de Beek, especially with more Dutch players now on the roster—notably, one of his closest friends and former Ajax teammate, Frenkie de Jong. More importantly, it would be ideal for the young prospect's career as well since he hasn't seen much playing time since his days at Ajax.
