Super Bowl LIII was an unequivocal letdown for both football fans and millions of casual observers alike. Though experts point to the genius defensive gameplan hatched by Bill Belichick and Brian Flores as a factor that redeems the New England Patriots' 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams all by itself, it goes without saying that the vast majority of viewers feel differently. Neither an excessively boring halftime show nor a massive collection of humdrum commercials could save this year's event from going down as one of the most boring in recent memory, either.

One bright spot? The league's awesome NFL 100 spot, a past-meets-present representation of football greats showing off the skills and personalities that made and continue to make them stars. Brian Urlacher was one of the many retired players featured in the ad, which he called his “favorite commercial ever.”

“When they asked me I said, ‘Hell, yeah, I’ll do it,” Urlacher told Larry Mayer, the Chicago Bears' team-employed senior writer. “It was fun. It was cool. I was very happy to be a part of it.”

The Hall-of-Fame middle linebacker, who retired in 2012 after playing all 13 seasons of his career with the Bears, is prominently featured in the commercial, laying a massive form tackle on Deion Sanders as “Primetime” does a celebratory strut after intercepting a pass thrown by Joe Montana. Did Urlacher actually get to hit Sanders, though?

“That was not me hitting Deion or Deion getting hit,” Urlacher confirmed. “We had doubles for that. I just did the run-by and then they showed the hit.”

Shame.
