Chicago Bears backup quarterback Chase Daniel is ready to roll if he has to play against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving due to Mitchell Trubisky's shoulder injury.

Trubisky suffered a right shoulder injury late in the Bears' 25-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football. While Bears head coach Matt Nagy is “cautiously optimistic” about his starting quarterback suiting up, Trubisky missed practice Tuesday and could sit out Thanksgiving.

If Daniel is called into action, he'll be prepared, according to Chris Emma of 670 The Score.

“I really haven't changed the way I prepared,” Daniel said before practice Tuesday. “I prepare like a starter every week. For me, it's just another game.”

“It's the same offense that I was in for five years,” Daniel said. “And it's mostly the same plays. We got some tweaks here and there, obviously different personnel (from previous teams), but I know the offense like the back of my hand.”

Daniel has only started two games in his career and hasn't thrown a pass in a game since 2016 with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Missouri product has thrown 78 total passes since coming into the NFL in 2010.

Still, Daniel has a lot of experience as a backup in Nagy's offense, so he's familiar with the system. Nagy is fully “comfortable” if the Bears have to turn to Daniel given the prior history between the two men.

Chicago currently sits atop the NFC North with a 7-3 record. The Bears just handled the Lions in Week 10, but going on the road with a quick turnaround after Sunday Night Football, and potentially with a backup quarterback, will make this a tough game.
