The Chicago Bears had a chance to win their Wild Card matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on a game-winning opportunity for kicker Cody Parkey. A routine 43-yard field goal attempted ended in an entire city being let down. Parkey hit the left goal post, the crossbar, and the kick fell away harmlessly to let the Eagles advance to the next round.

In what was an amazing season for the Bears, disappointment has never felt so deep. Parkey is certainly not a well-loved name in Chicago right now.

Following the missed kick, Parkey opened up about the miss and it is obvious that he is upset with himself for missing it.

The Chicago Tribune shared his post-game comments.

“I feel terrible. There’s really no answer to it. I thought I hit a good ball.”

There is no question about how Parkey is feeling right now. His comments, though short and sweet, share his overall feeling. The word “terrible” is the only word that can describe how he feels.

Unfortunately, Parkey is receiving more hate than he deserves. He has received plenty of social media hate and some of it has gone too far. Being disappointed is one thing, but being threatening is another.

All of that being said, the Bears are heading in the right direction. Chicago went from being one of the worst teams in the NFL to one of the best. Even though they didn't pick up a playoff win, the Bears are going to be a team to be reckoned with for years to come.
