The Chicago Bears are hoping to have more success on offense in 2020 and they may have found a late-round gem in the 2020 NFL Draft. With a few training camp practices under their belt, Matt Nagy had an interesting comparison for rookie wide receiver Darnell Mooney.

While speaking about the first-year wideout, Nagy likened Mooney to fellow pass-catcher Allen Robinson. The third-year head coach stated that Mooney is “mature for his age” and is “asking very good questions” this offseason, via Windy City Gridiron.

In the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, with pick No. 173, the Bears took Mooney out of Tulane. Throughout his final two seasons at Tulane, Mooney accumulated 96 receptions for 1,706 yards and 13 touchdowns.

However, at 5-foot-11 and lighter than 180 pounds, Mooney is considered undersized at wide receiver. Nevertheless, Nagy believes Mooney is making positive progress in his development with the team so far.

Since signing with the Bears in 2018, Robinson has been a main fixture in Chicago's aerial attack. Despite shaky play from Mitch Trubisky last season, Robinson snagged a career-best 98 passes for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns. Even when he was with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Robinson was one of the most underrated wide receivers in the NFL.

Robinson is entering a contract year with Chicago and is hoping to be a long-term contributor for them. Over a month ago, Robinson revealed that the Bears have yet to open contract talks with him this offseason. Regardless of his status with the team, the team would love for Mooney to evolve into a wide receiver remotely close to the talent of Robinson.
