In the last several weeks, Chicago Bears new head coach Matt Nagy has continued to spew praise toward second-year running back Tarik Cohen's ability on the field. It has quickly built the notion that the Bears will have some special plans ahead for using Cohen in the 2018 campaign.

Nagy once again aired that excitement on Wednesday stating that he will have “some fun” using Cohen in some unique ways that could see him be more of a threat in the passing game as a receiving option out of the backfield, according to Mark Potash of The Chicago Sun-Times.

“You may look like you can run routes, but can you really run routes? He’s able to run routes,” Nagy said. “Sometimes that can be a disadvantage to a defense because they’ve got to cover him all over the field. You can’t just put him in the backfield and say to the middle linebacker, ‘Cover him.’ So we’ll try to do some things there. He’s an athletic kid who does a lot of things well. We’ll have some fun with him.”

Cohen had shown to be a dynamic talent in his first year in the league with his explosive speed and big-play ability as both a runner and receiver along with contributing on special teams as both a punt and kickoff returner. He made most of his impact in the passing game hauling in 53 catches for 353 receiving yards.

Although Jordan Howard will continue to be the primary asset out of the backfield, Cohen has more than earned his fair share of snaps and spot in the offensive game plan. He offers a unique skillset that the Bears could utilize to a large degree in making him a high-impact player whenever he is on the field.

More importantly, these latest comments from Nagy show that Chicago has some major plans ahead for the 22-year-old in the 2018 season.
