The Chicago Bears could represent a potential landing spot for free agent running back Adrian Peterson, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Most are expecting Peterson to stay with the Washington Redskins, but with the Bears shopping fellow running back Jordan Howard in trade talks, Peterson would absolutely make sense if things don't work out with the Redskins.

Peterson is coming off of a renaissance year in 2018, as he rushed for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 20 receptions for 208 yards and a score.

The 33-year-old looked to be cooked in 2017, as he split the season between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals and registered 529 yards and two scores on the ground total, recording just 3.4 yards per attempt.

Peterson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Arkansas, was originally selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the seventh overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft.

He had a spectacular rookie campaign, rushing for 1,341 yards and 12 touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. Then, in his second season, Peterson made another trip to Honolulu and earned a First-Team All-Pro selection after racking up a league-leading 1,760 yards and 10 scores.

The Palestine, Tx. native was named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first four seasons, earning a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections in the process. Overall, he made seven Pro Bowl appearances and notched First-Team All-Pro honors four times during his 10-year run with the Vikings, leading the league in rushing three times. However, knee injuries ended his tenure with Minnesota in 2016.
