The Cincinnati Bengals would like to re-sign wide receiver A.J. Green and extend running back Joe Mixon, but due to the new CBA negotiations, contract talks between Green and Mixon have stalled, according to Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Bengals plan on using their franchise tag on Green if they can't come to terms. Meanwhile, Mixon is entering the final year of his current deal.

Cincinnati's decision to try and keep Green is certainly an interesting one, given that the Bengals are in clear rebuilding mode and Green is 31 years old and did not play at all in 2019 due to ankle issues.

Green also played in just nine games in 2018 as a result of a toe injury.

The Summerville, S.C. native, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was originally selected by Cincy with the fourth overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first seven seasons, tallying over 1,000 yards in six of those campaigns.

However, since 2016, Green has played in just 35 of a possible 64 games.

Mixon is coming off of a season in which he appeared in every contest and rushed for 1,137 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 4.1 yards per carry. In addition, he caught 35 passes for 287 yards and three scores.

The 23-year-old attended the University of Oklahoma and was initially selected by the Bengals in the second round (48th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

After a quiet rookie campaign, Mixon broke out in 2018, racking up 1,168 yards while reaching the end zone eight times on the ground, logging 4.9 yards per attempt. He also hauled in 43 receptions for 296 yards and a touchdown.

Cincinnati went an NFL-worst 2-14 in 2019.
