The Buffalo Bills and the Cleveland Browns completed a trade Monday with Corey Coleman going to the Bills in return for a 2020 seventh-round draft pick. Coleman was once a first-round draft pick but injuries and ineffectiveness meant a change was needed.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane is excited about what Coleman can bring to the table and calls the move “low risk.”

“It hadn't worked out in Cleveland probably the way he thought when he was drafted or the way they thought when they drafted him in the first round,” Beane said via NFL.com. “So it's a fresh start for him to come in here and compete. He's not going to automatically get anything. He's going to come in here and compete.”

One of the things that Beane is most excited about is the speed that Coleman has and thinks it can be a big addition to the wide receiving corps.

“Definitely, always looking to add speed on both sides of the ball,” he said. “You can't coach speed. And we're always looking to add it. So that was one of the attractive things of him coming out [of college], and he's still got that.”

Just because the Browns made the trade Beane has made it clear that he is still going to have to earn everything on the Bills including his spot on the roster.

“I don't know all what went right or wrong with Corey in Cleveland, but again we view it as a fresh start here to earn and compete. There is nothing guaranteed here. He's got to come in and earn it, whether it's a starting job or just a job on the 53 [-man roster].”

Coleman still has some elite skills and maybe all he needs is this fresh start to start putting it all together.
