The Buffalo Bills have continued their downward tumble as the 2018 campaign has worn on after suffering yet another disappointing loss in Week 9 action against the Chicago Bears being trounced 41-9 at home. It saw second-year quarterback Nathan Peterman put together another disappointing performance throwing three interceptions to no touchdown passes with 189 yards on 31 of 49 completed passes. All of this led to a disgruntled response from former NFL quarterback EJ Manuel to blast Peterman for still being able to have a job over him despite his continued struggles on the field.

There is much credence to what EJ Manuel is stating, as Nathan Peterman has struggled greatly on the field, but has continued to get playing time on the field that in any other situation would warrant his benching and possibly being let go in many scenarios. Instead, the Bills have kept on the path playing him as the starter due to the injuries they have at the position with Josh Allen's elbow injury and Derek Anderson still recovering from a concussion. This has also raised the questions about the team's decision to not venture into the free agent market to acquire help at the position.

There are plenty of veteran quarterbacks available that could step in to help such as Manuel. Although he has struggled to prove that he can perform at effectively as the starter for the Bills in his previous tenure, his play wasn't as atrocious as the what the Bills are receiving from Peterman, who has 12 career interceptions in eight regular season games played over the last two years.

It is a situation that the Bills continue to ride out given that their playoff hopes are all but shot now holding a 2-7 record on the season. This may just be a waiting game until Allen returns to the mix from his elbow injury.
