Damian Lillard's potent fourth quarter left many at the Staples Center in awe of his shot-making ability in the clutch, as the Portland Trail Blazers rallied to a 35-23 final period to edge the Los Angeles Lakers 108-103 on Monday night.

Lillard hit four straight 3s in the final few minutes of regulation, flipping the tables and getting the Blazers on top — which proved enough despite the untimely mistakes down the stretch that put the result in danger.

But as those treys were dropping, even his own teammate Shabazz Napier marveled at Lillard's skill and confidence, erasing a seven-point deficit entering the fourth.

“He definitely thought the hoop was an ocean,” Napier said, according to Joe Freeman of The Oregonian. “It was like he was throwing a rock in the ocean. It looked good every time he shot it.”

Lillard has scored 35 or more points in six of the last 10 games, per Freeman. Making the most of his six games since the All-Star break, where he has averaged 30.7 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.7 rebounds. Monday night's performance against the Lakers was better than any other, trumping even a genius fourth quarter against the Phoenix Suns on Feb. 24.

“I don't marvel at a lot of things,” Napier said. “A lot of things don't get to me. But today was spectacular … I was just like, ‘Wow.' In the game, I was like, ‘Wow.'”

The Blazers have now won seven straight games and are sitting in third place in the West — a spot that should get them plenty of advantages down the road, especially avoiding a potential omen matchup against the Houston Rockets or the defending champion Golden State Warriors — two teams that had hit stride since the break.
