The Toronto Blue Jays no longer look like the superteam that would bulldoze all other MLB teams. Their losing streak is now at five games and they have lost eight of their last 10 games. The frustration settled in and became too much to handle after a walk-off loss at the hands of the New York Yankees, so George Springer took action.

Springer organized a players-only meeting, according to Hazel Mae of Sportsnet. He stressed to the Blue Jays that they need to simply slow down and regain their composure.

Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo embraced the players' decision to have a meeting together to talk things through, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com.

“They want to win so bad,” Montoyo said. “We all do. Of course. That’s part of trying too hard, when you get frustrated. They’re talking to each other, and the coaches are, too. Hopefully, they get going. At the end of the day, it’s their clubhouse, and they talk to each other. They had their meeting the other day. That’s what we want.”

In a horrific display of misfortune for the Blue Jays, Springer sprained his left ankle just days later in a loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. He left the game following an attempt to catch a fly ball at the wall.

Toronto will be much worse off without Springer, one of their best players and someone who is beloved by the team. He leads the team in slugging percentage and is third in on-base percentage and hits. Even in his absence, they have stars everywhere and have a lot more of the season ahead of them.

The Blue Jays losing streak and overall lack of success so far is very disappointing but may end up being a footnote in a fantastic season.
