The Atlanta Braves will be without superstar outfielder Ronald Acuna for Wednesday night's game against the Boston Red Sox. Acuna, who started the season on the IL while recovering from a torn ACL he sustained last year, will be held out of the lineup due to soreness in his left groin. Via David O'Brien, the team revealed that it hopes Acuna will be able to return to the lineup for Friday's game against the San Diego Padres.

The Braves will send Acuna in for treatment over the next two days. He'll miss Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, but the team is not scheduled to play Thursday, buying him a bit of extra time to get right. As of now, the plan is for Acuna to return to the lineup on Friday, though it wouldn't be a big surprise to see the Braves err on the side of caution and keep him out longer if there are any signs of lingering discomfort.

Acuna suffered a torn ACL last year after trying to make a defensive play in center field. He underwent season-ending surgery on the knee in July of 2021 and did not return to game action for the Braves until early May. He's featured in 10 games since his return to the big league club, providing a spark for the Braves who were slow out the gate this year. He's recorded a .878 OPS with 2 home runs, 5 RBI, and 5 stolen bases.

The Braves currently trail the New York Mets by 7.0 games in the NL East. Atlanta, at 14-17, sits in second place in the division, one-half game ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies.
