The Milwaukee Brewers take on the Kansas City Royals. Our MLB odds series has our Brewers Royals prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Brewers Royals.

The Milwaukee Brewers and Kansas City Royals have a few things in common. They began the season believing they were good, but also facing a lot of outside skepticism. The doubts surrounding the Royals were obvious. Kansas City was not a good team last season, as the Royals developed their young players and threw them into the fire. The Royals did the responsible and smart thing, but that meant taking their lumps in the short term so that they could collect a long-term payoff. In the offseason, the Royals made some targeted investments in pitching, believing that their young position players would take the next step. The thought process was sound, but believing that it would all come together this year, not in 2025, might have been too ambitious. A wait-and-see attitude was attached to this team, and not without reason.

The Milwaukee Brewers have been a good team in Major League Baseball over the past few seasons, either in the playoff hunt or actually in the postseason, as was the case last year. Yet, a lot of analysts weren't ready to buy Brewer stock in 2024 for two very obvious reasons. One was the departure of highly-regarded manager Craig Counsell, who went to the Cubs for a bigger payday. The other main reason was the exit of staff ace Corbin Burnes, who went to the Baltimore Orioles to chase a championship with a clearly better team. Losing a good manager and a staff ace will likely hurt a team. The Brewers had to re-prove themselves.

Milwaukee and Kansas City, both doubted to varying degrees before the season started, have been very good in the first 35 games of the season. Both teams are several games above .500 and have given themselves a chance to compete for division titles and postseason berths. It will be fascinating to see how this series shapes both teams' seasons.

Why The Brewers Could Cover The Spread

The Brewers just played a very tough weekend series against the Cubs in Chicago, winning on Friday before losing on Saturday and Sunday. The Cubs, like the Royals, have good starting pitching. The Brewers absorbed a few setbacks against the Cubs, but going up against quality starting pitchers should prepare Milwaukee's hitters for this game against the Royals and Cole Ragans. Milwaukee has struggled in its last two games. The odds that the Brewers will play three straight subpar games are low rather than high.

Why The Royals Could Cover The Spread

The Royals have, like the Brewers, struggled in their last two games. They got blown out on Saturday before blowing a 2-0, eighth-inning lead on Sunday in a 3-2 loss to the Texas Rangers. After playing the defending World Series champions in a tough series, playing the Brewers will be easier by comparison. This should help the Royals to play better in this game and win.

Final Brewers-Royals Prediction & Pick

The Royals will be staying at home while the Brewers will be traveling. Kansas City suffered a stinging loss on Sunday and is in a good bounce-back situation here. Take the Royals.

Final Brewers-Royals Prediction & Pick: Royals -1.5
