Russell Wilson is embarking on the next chapter of his football career with the Denver Broncos. No matter how it goes, he will go down as one of the best players of his era. But he will also be remembered for something less glamorous: the history that his wife, Ciara, has with her ex-fiance, Future.

Since Wilson and Ciara started dating very soon after she decided to leave Future, he is a huge part of their story. Former NFL linebacker Channing Crowder became the latest person to discuss them. On his Podcast “The Pivot,” he talked with former NFL players Fred Taylor and Ryan Clark to take jabs at the couple. He called Denver's new star quarterback a square and made fun of his former girlfriend while suggesting the Grammy Award-winning artist is only with Wilson for his money.

Crowder's comments are unprovoked and in bad taste. It's very weird behavior to suggest Ciara, who has multiple kids with the Denver star and has been married to him for nearly a decade, is only in it for the money. It's a degrading take and one that doesn't make sense considering Ciara has made plenty of money in her music career.

Wilson hasn't directly responded, though the Broncos quarterback did continue his habit of quoting verses from the Bible around the same time Crowder's comments came out.

Wilson and the Broncos should be able to compete in the AFC despite their division being stacked. The 33-year-old will have more power in the offense than he did with the Seattle Seahawks, which should make the new partnership flourish.
