When the Denver Broncos selected Drew Lock in the second round of the NFL Draft back in April, most felt it would only be a matter of time before he eventually supplanted Joe Flacco as the starting quarterback.

However, a preseason thumb injury put the Lock watch on halt, as the rookie signal-caller immediately hit the injured reserve list.

Now, Lock seems healthy and is eligible to return, with Broncos head coach Vic Fangio saying on Monday that the team could activate the University of Missouri product this week.

It seems like a perfect time for Lock to get an opportunity, as well, as Flacco is out for the season with a neck injury, and Brandon Allen doesn't seem to figure much in Denver's future plans.

That being said, Fangio is remaining very coy on whether or not he will give Lock a start at some point in 2019.

But Lock is apparently ready.

Broncos cornerback Chris Harris has been speaking to Lock and says that the first-year quarterback seems prepared:

“I like Drew,” Harris said on Tuesday, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “I’m excited to see him play whenever he gets the opportunity. I know everybody in Broncos Country is calling for him to play, but it’s up to coach and [general manager John] Elway and when everybody thinks he’s ready. I’ve talked to Drew; Drew thinks he’s ready, so that’s good right there coming from the player. You want him to feel confident and know that he’s ready to good. From talking to him, he seems like he’s ready.”

Considering that Denver is just 3-8, it has nothing to lose by starting Lock.

Of course, that decision is ultimately up to Fangio and the front office.
