Joe Flacco's debut season with the Denver Broncos could be over after recently suffering a neck injury. This injury gives rookie Drew Lock an opportunity to get some snaps at the tail end of the 2019 NFL season. Specifically, he is on pace to play the final two or three games, according to Mike Klis of 9 News.

Flacco's injury may for him to sit out the remainder of the season. They are already starting to prepare for life without him, as they promoted Brandon Allen to starting quarterback on Monday.

“We’ll reevaluate after the bye and see where he’s at,’’ said Broncos coach Vic Fangio on Flacco on Monday at the team’s UC Health Training Center headquarters.

Fangio's answer is as safe as it could be, but fans can consider looking forward to seeing Lock, their second-round rookie, play.

Lock is fully recovered his injured thumb and is now eligible to play in Week 9 after sitting the first eight weeks as part of the IR protocol. However, Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello is not fully confident that Lock can play now.

“Right now, he’s injured and it’s hard to make any of those kinds of judgments,” Scangarello said, per Sports Illustrated. “He hasn’t done anything in such a long time and you know how it is — preseason seems like a lifetime ago. As he gets back into the swing of things and we see where he’s at, obviously you’ll have a better feel for where he’s at. He’s a rookie in this league who hasn’t played a snap and has a lot to learn. We’re excited about him and we’ll see where it goes.”

It's highly likely that he'll play in the final games of the season. Broncos fans would probably want to see the end of the season so they can see their promising quarterback play.
